Guillaume Fillias was born in Marseille. While studying film & Cinema at University of Provence, he actively participates in the short-film local scene and directed his first short film Deadly NightShade (26min) in 2003. He never stopped directing films eversince.
He meets Chris Nahon in 2002, leading character of the new French film de genre movement, director of Kiss of The Dragon, third biggest French international success to date. The world acclaimed director hires him as assistant director on projects including commercials and short-films.
Whilst completing a Master Degree in Business and working for leading multinational companies in Paris, he works at night to complete the post-production of Deadly NightShade released early 2006. He then travels around the world to Canada, the US, Spain before settling in Ireland for three years. He directs commercials including promotional films for Audi and Lynx/Axe deodorants and virals videos for DJ Battle, the #1 DJ in France. Guillaume Fillias is currently based in London, UK.
His admiration for the work of Fritz Lang, Jean Pierre Melville, Alex Proyas & Brian de Palma gradually feeds through his photographs & films flavoured by film noir atmospheres and lights inspired by Claude Joseph Vernet's Clair Obscur paintings.
Along with everlasting social tensions and omnipresent violence, the corruption of authorities in his hometown also influence his work. A place depicted by John Friedkin in French Connection as the European gateway for African narcotics and home to several mafias.
He lately developed a series of work based music videos and the mix between moving images and music.He draws throughtout his work a dark picture of governing heights and characters moving into electric heatbeat and urban. His work reflects the frenetic beat of our present day lives as well as the heart beat of life. Rythm is life as once said Keziah Jones.
